Introduction to PositiveWare

PositiveWare is a multi-user, multi-client web application that enables you to:

  • Manage projects and tasks
  • Track time and budgets
  • Assign people to activities
  • Store, share and manage documents
  • Generate Reports

All information is stored and updated in real time and PositiveWare allows users to be assigned permission-based access to different areas of functionality - thus facilitating team management and resource allocation.

This manual has been written to provide a comprehensive and regularly-updated guide to using and administering PositiveWare. It is updated after each release and incorporates information taken from user feedback and our support forums to ensure it is as helpful and complete as possible.

PositiveWare Concepts

PositiveWare is based around five key concepts:

  • Clients
  • Plans
  • Tasks
  • People & Time
  • Budgets

Plans are self-contained packages of work that may include one or more tasks and are aligned to a client. Tasks can also standalone, but must still be aligned to a client.

Each client may have an unlimited number of plans and/or tasks, and people can be assigned to work on one or more plans or tasks.

Budgets can be assigned to Clients or Plans.

People can allocate their time to clients, plans or tasks.

Here's an overview of how everything fits together:

Logging Into PositiveWare for the First Time

If you're new to PositiveWare, you will be presented with the "What do you want to do?" page the first time you log in:

This page allows you to quickly and easily access some of the most important areas of functionality in PositiveWare:

  • Add Task
  • Add Plan
  • Add Cient
  • Track Time
  • Run Reports
Choose one of these options to get started directly, or choose the Explore PositiveWare on my own buttown at the bottom of the page if you would like to explore the application in a little more depth.

The PositiveWare Interface

All navigation in PositiveWare is based around the group of tabs that are displayed at the top of the screen:

Depending on the configuration of your PositiveWare system and your user permissions, you may not see all of these tabs. This is normal and is a feature of the way that PositiveWare works.

You may also find that some individual features within each section of PositiveWare may not be available to you. This is also a result of the user permission system and is a feature of PositiveWare, allowing easy configuration of different users' roles and responsibilities.
